Purpose of the Job
The purpose of the Director of Thrift Store Warehouse is to oversee the donation management process for all incoming clothing, home goods, and toys that support the Thrift Store and maintain and develop the online store, including identifying high value goods for online sale.
Responsibilities
This role is responsible for developing and maintaining an efficient processing system for all non-food pantry donations that come to the Grace Care Center, including distribution to the Thrift Store physical store or online store, donation to another organization, or trash. Responsibilities include the leadership, training, and shepherding of volunteers and the maintenance, marketing, and sales for the online store.
Lead and Shepherd Volunteers
- Recruit, train, and manage a donation management volunteer team
- Provide leadership, resources, and encouragement for volunteers
- Schedule and communicate with volunteers
Warehouse Operations
- Organize and maintain the Thrift Store warehouse and storage trailers
- Receive, sort, and distribute donations to the Thrift Store
- Identify within incoming donations the high value items for potential online sale
- Execute marketing plan and promotions schedule for the online store:
- Prepare promotional materials and displays
- Promote sales via social media and email
- Process online orders for pickup or shipment
- Coordinate special sales events
- Collaborate with the other services of the Care Center for best practices and greater impact
Administration
- Attend staff meetings and Care Center events as required
- Collaborate with the Director of Thrift Store to maximize the value of incoming donations
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- 3+ years progressively responsible experience in any of the following areas is preferred:
- Systems design and project management
- Retail store and retail customer service
- Warehouse inventory control systems
- Online sales system development, promotion, and sales generation
- Recruitment and leadership of volunteer or paid staff
- Demonstrated passion for the marginalized and willingness to learn from the people we work with each week
- Able to regularly stand, stoop, reach, and walk throughout an eight-hour shift
- Able to lift, pull, or push up to 50 lbs. throughout an eight-hour shift
- Ability to handle multiple tasks with competing timelines, with excellent follow up and follow through
- High attention to detail, time management and organization skills
- Demonstrated ability to direct, coach, motivate and supervise others
- Strong communication, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
- Collaborative team player
