PURPOSE OF THE JOB

This role exists to attend to the spiritual health of students and volunteers through time, training, and programming.

RESPONSIBILITIES

This role is responsible for implementing curriculum and executing weekly programs with a focused effort on small groups. This role is also responsible for recruiting, training, and shepherding coaches, small group leaders, and welcome team volunteers.

Lead and Shepherd Volunteers

  • Annually, as a team, recruit and help train small group leaders.
  • Biannually, meet with small group leaders to encourage and support their effectiveness with students.
  • Quarterly, meet with coaches, small group leaders, and supervisor over a meal to equip, engage, and celebrate.
  • Monthly, connect with coaches to assess effectiveness of small groups.
  • Weekly, email small group leaders information pertinent to weekend program and make practical preparations for small group programming.
  • Schedule welcome team volunteers for weekend services and events and schedule student leadership team meetings.
  • Lead the weekly pre-service small group leader meeting.

Ministry Development

  • Lead in the development and execution of discipleship emphases and curriculum for weekend programming.
  • Annually, lead in the development and execution of one trip.

Shared Responsibilities (with Director – Student Programs)

  • Under the direction of the Associate Pastor, co-create an annual goal and spiritual direction for Grace Students within the overall mission and values of Grace Church.
  • Co-develop weekend programming with special attention to the flow between large and small groups.
  • Co-lead the student leadership team.
  • Co-oversee the use and care of Room W161.
  • Teach in Middle School (FUSE) and High School (MERGE).
  • Monthly or quarterly, meet with student leadership team.
  • Attend team-specific meetings including weekly Kids & Students team, bimonthly Community Life team, and quarterly Grace Students design team.

Administration

  • Update student and volunteer information in the database.
  • Process volunteer applications, submit background checks, and update records.
  • Follow up with new students.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Ministry, or related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of progressively responsible education, student development, or ministry experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and execute events.
  • Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
  • Proven knowledge of emotional, cognitive, and spiritual challenges specific to students.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish intentional programming with a team of adults and students.
  • Proven experience in planning and directing a worship service.
  • High capacity for managing multiple competing projects with fastidious attention to detail.

STAFF MEMBER REQUIREMENTS

  • Committed to the vision, mission, and values of Grace Church.
  • Attend weekly staff check-ins, monthly staff meetings, quarterly Core Team (membership) meetings, and annual staff retreat.
  • Directly work and be committed to the success of Grace’s Big Six events: Easter, Grace Kids Camp, Community Fair, Weekend of Service, Artistic Production, and Christmas Eve.
